Welcome to Debts Doctor. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website located at debtsdoctor.com, including the student loan calculator and all related content (together, the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What Debts Doctor is (and isn't)
Debts Doctor is a free educational tool that models federal student loan repayment plans and long-term financial projections. It is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
The Site does not provide financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. We are not financial advisors, and no advisor–client, fiduciary, or professional relationship is created by your use of the Site. Nothing on the Site is a recommendation to choose any particular repayment plan or to take or refrain from any financial action. Before making decisions about your loans, consult your loan servicer, studentaid.gov, and, where appropriate, a qualified professional.
2. Estimates only; no guarantee of accuracy
The calculator produces estimates based on (a) the information you enter, (b) simplified models of federal repayment plans, and (c) assumptions that are disclosed on the calculator page (for example, salary growth rates and how interest is applied). Federal loan rules, interest rates, poverty guidelines, and plan availability change over time, and your servicer's calculations may differ from ours.
We work to keep the calculator accurate and current, but we make no representation, warranty, or guarantee of the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any calculation, projection, or other content on the Site, and we are not responsible for decisions made in reliance on them.
3. "As is" and disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Debts Doctor and its founders, contributors, and operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including, without limitation, financial losses, lost savings, or losses arising from repayment plan decisions — resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent any liability is not excludable under applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Site shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
5. Your use of the Site
You agree to use the Site only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You will not attempt to disrupt the Site, scrape or republish its content at scale, misrepresent affiliation with Debts Doctor, or use the Site's content to train commercial products without our permission.
6. Your data
The calculator runs entirely in your browser: the financial details you enter are not transmitted to or stored by us. If you submit the contact form or subscribe to updates, we receive the information you provide (such as your name and email) and use it only to respond to you or send the updates you requested. We do not sell your information.
7. Intellectual property
The Site, including its design, text, logo, and code, is owned by Debts Doctor and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use the Site for personal purposes and share links to it freely; any other reproduction or distribution requires our prior written permission.
8. Third-party links
The Site links to third-party resources such as studentaid.gov and loan servicer websites. We are not responsible for the content or accuracy of third-party sites.
9. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time without notice. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; the effective date above reflects the latest revision. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
